Getting started

  • Add your skates and bladesCreate a blade for each set of steel you skate on (tournament, practice, backup).
  • Log a sharpeningRecord the hollow, shop/tech, and cost so you always know who touched your edges.
  • Install or swapTrack when a set was mounted or pulled off your holders.
  • Performance notesCapture how the edges felt after a skate—bite, glide, or anything off.

Tips for staying dialed in

  • Save the tech/shop on every sharpening so you can spot patterns.
  • Use performance notes after each session for quick memory of how the hollow felt.
  • Create a “tournament set” with a different hollow and swap it in/out as you need.
  • Retire blades instead of deleting them to preserve history.

FAQ

How do I change the hollow on a sharpening entry?

Edit the sharpening record and update the hollow value—your log will keep the full history.

Can I sync between devices?

Yes. BladeTracker uses iCloud, so your sharpening history stays in step across iPhone and iPad.

What if the app is missing a feature I want?

Tell us what you need at jalterapps@gmail.com—we prioritize requests from players.

How do I track multiple pairs of blades?

Add a blade entry for each set and use install records to know which blades are currently in your skates.

How do I track multiple pairs of skates?

Go to the Settings > Manage Skates > Add Skates. You will need to add blades to your skates. You can Add Blades in Settings > Manage Blades.

How do you distinguish between identical sets of steel?

I use an engraving pen. I mark each set in the same spot so I can find it easily. The pen leaves enough mark that you can see it well and it won’t come off.
